DOING THE BARTMAN

Bart "The Bartman" Jones is in town. Even though my phone's nonexistent at the moment I was still able get a hold of Randy and everyone, so we took Bart to some spots and demanded that he rip. He obliged. Speaking of phones, check out Bart's. He skates hard, he phones hard. Everyone else ripped too, including Jake who apparently just got on Hook-Ups. Yeah Jake! After that we went to the absolute worst gas station in St. Louis and then to a treacherous manual spot up north. Alex and Reggie battled it while a porch of very entertained onlookers cheered them on. One of which decided to take a crash course in skate photography from Bart. Randy also explored the curb to gap nearby. Finally we skated a metal ledge down the street and called it a day. -Worful

THE ROTTING WEEKEND

Sunday means the end of the week and the end of the weekend. Therefore it's always hard to have a truly relaxing Sunday session because in the back of my head there's always that creeping feeling of work or school or something on the Monday horizon. Never the less I met up with some duders at the shop and headed to River Des Peres for some fun in the sun. Derek was immediately not impressed, but still decided to venture across our impromptu bridge with Chris and I to check out the full pipe. It proved to be not only too small but also reminiscent of the smell of fear itself. On my way across the bridge I slipped and am now worried that I may come down with swamp foot. Oh well, that's life in the big river I guess. As the sun set we headed to the Webster park to meet up with Bobby where wholesome fun of a very dad nature was had by all. -Worful

BOOK OF REVELATION

This past weekend Sam "The Newminator" Newman came in town with some homies from Chicago. Plus Marty! Super nice to see them. Too bad Marty's foot was hurting him, it's always a pleasure to watch him skate. Kiener was occupied, and I did not know that the fountain water runs BLOOD red when the Cardinal's are doing well. Horrifying. Andy got a nice back overcrook at Shepard, but his banger for the weekend was a back 50-50 at the Long Elementary rail. I forgot just how LONG the Long rail was. Jeez louise, so crazy. He was going about a million miles an hour by the end of it. Come back soon guys! -Worful

Rumors have been circulating about a new skate shop in town. Is it true? Is Bobby opening up a high end storefront stocked with the freshest grear? Sadly the answer is no, but if he did we're pretty sure what the name would be.

THE LURE OF THE WEST

Just like the good ol' days, I traveled out west over the weekend with the Kehoes and company. West County I mean. Chris was really wrecking himself and getting super close to getting a crazy trick, but alas he'll have to go back. Meanwhile Joe Jackson showed up and went off road while Randy and Jack chubbed out. Afterwards we headed to the snowcones. I was bummed Bobby couldn't skate with us (there of all places), but he's busy teaching his son how to skate, so it's fine. Again, Joe of course got creative, and then we headed to the flat rails down the street. Randy did that classic "thing" he does where he says he's too tired and then pulls some amazing trick out of thin air. This time it was from a suggestion from Jack, but you'll have to wait to see it. Anyway I'm thinking that Randy should hire Jack to be his trick coordinator for the Infinity video. Also I think we should skate the county way more. -Worful

STUFF THE BALLOT BOX

Our friends at Escapist skate shop in KC are involved in a street league off shoot called "Shop League" that gives the hosting cities local shop a hack at their stadium-seated Excitebike course. The winning shop gets a whopping 5 large for getting the most votes. With economic woes and online/mall chain shops steadily creeping in and getting the better of the skater-owned skateshops these days, it is more important than ever to support our friends and help them keep their doors open.

Now of course we have a lot of love for the other shops involved (big shout out to our friends at Cowtown) but factors like history, proximity, and events like this, make Escapist the obvious choice for any self-respecting Saint Louis skateboarder. While i'm still in full hype-man mode I might as well plug the Todd Bratrud and Michael Seiben art show at Escapist this coming weekend, Oct. 7th. Attendance is a no-brainer.

POP

Some real classic crisp fall weather this past weekend, accompanied by some real classic crisp popping out of ledge tricks by everyone I skated with. We started off at a blind school-esque metal ledge but soon got kicked out. So we decided to go skate the real thing. Alex "The Hoffster" Hoffman was in town to fill in for our usual Alex who was feeling under the weather. Also I don't condone yelling at children, but that one kid that lives near the blind school was in rare form that day. Lordy. -Worful
