KANSAS CITY (PART TWO)

More people started to come to the show as the night went on, including this super nice kid who wanted a board signed. I also had the honor of sharing the night with Max Chilen's UMKC graduation party. Max rips and according to Guy has the coolest name in skateboarding. I agree. After Randy, Lucy, Jack, and Tess showed up Dan suggested we go walk around to some of the other galleries. The first Friday vibe was super cool and lots of people were out, including Dan's brother and other car enthusiasts which was sick to see. Then we came back to the gallery and hung out for awhile and watched a very exciting dice game before we decided to go to the Westport area to get "buck" as Guy would say. The next day Dan took us to a nice ditch to skate, and then later to a really fun and mellow park. Did you know that Dan can do an entire line while sitting? It's true. He should've filmed it, but instead he filmed Randy's sick air. After that Guy and I grabbed some BBQ and hit the road and drove late into the night to get back home. Anyway, I had a blast and just wanted to say thanks so much to Dan at Escapist for asking me to do the show and design the board. I really appreciate it! Dan's super rad and so are the Escapist shops and all the KC people I met too. Special thanks to Guy for everything, and to the homies that made the drive from St. Louis. It all means a lot, and I feel really lucky to be friends with all these rad people and to have gotten to be a part of Pretty. -Worful

KANSAS CITY (PART ONE)

So Guy and I drove to Kansas City last Thursday to set up my show at Escapist. I hadn't been to KC since the last time I went there with Guy, Randy, and Drew to skate a few years ago. So it was nice to come back after so long. It was raining when we got there, so I went ahead and started hanging my stuff. Once that was done Guy and I headed to the Nelson-Atkins museum to contemplate the meaning of art. We also spied a potential future Pretty graphic. After that I took him on a tour of the KCAI campus where I used to roam, and we ended the night with some super good burgers. The next day we skated and I accidentally somehow got a street skating photo. Thanks Guy! Guy also got one, not surprising. And then we headed back to the shop to chill before the opening. The boards on the shop wall looked great, I was so stoked. Frank was into them too, yes! -Worful

SAY IT AIN'T SO

Pratte and Alex came over to my place last Friday after I got off work in order to figure out where and even if we should go skate since it was looking like it might rain. So we decided to go to the fountain because it was close and almost always fun. But when we got there we were bummed to find out that it had been skate stopped. DAMN IT. But of course the more we looked at it the more we thought it might be still skateable. And of course Alex proved us right. -Worful

Editor's note: We ended up getting kicked out by some cops pretty quickly because of "noise complaints" from the neighbors. So I don't know if it's a mega bust or what, but skate there at your own discretion I suppose.

Last week I met up with Gabe and Alex and they showed me this cool alley spot I'd never seen. HOWEVER it was connected to a grumpy lady's backyard and she gave us the boot. But luckily they had another cool alley spot right down the street. The Kehoes sure like alley spots. Almost as much as I like fat bottomed girls. -Worful

THE LITTLE PARK THAT COULD

I don't know why the Webster park is so fun, but I think it's because I skate there with all my friends. I tried skating there the other day alone, and it was fun, but not nearly the same as later when Sam and Joel showed up. Anyway, the day before that I went there with Bobby and met up with a bigger crew of dudes. Bob for some reason suggested we get pizza on the way, which made me feel like a fat sack of crap. But somehow he was good to go. Anyway, I didn't get any Bob pics unfortunately, but I did get some of Jake, Alex, Sam, and Chris. -Worful

SO SHIT(side)

Measured in cinematic standards, this video is the Citizen Kane of immense second hand embarrassment. The kind of complex emotions it stirred within me in 4 minutes are difficult to describe and I have to admit I'm usually pretty hardened to these kind of things. While peeping between my fingers, the usual defense mechanism of laughter was stifled into a choking gag from the brutal gut-punch of shame and humiliation. red in face and with hair standing on the ends, my stomach felt as if it was climbing through my throat until, like the Native American who has seen his culture raped and misappropriated, the tension manifested itself into one single tear which rolled down my cheek until it began to boil turning to steam on the surface of my scrunched-up red-hot face. After the eternity of its duration, I was in shambles. unrepairably transformed by the experience. Its an experience that i have to coin as "C4mped". Like getting "punked" but "c4mped". I got "c4mped". I'm sorry that I have subjected you to this experience but I will not rest until the world knows what I have witnessed and now might carry forever in my mind. You've been "c4mped".

Anyhow, I calmed down after about an hour and collected my fractured thoughts.

Then I thought of this.

and then I thought "who the hell is Legend C4mp and why couldn't they C4mp somewhere else that day."

Then I started writing this review of sorts, and now i'm thinking that its scary to talk about rappers on the internet but that i'm going to give it a shot because you know, its a new thing to me and you can't knock things until you try them, so they say. And hey, i'm obviously just razzin' after all? Right guys? right? PLEASE DON'T HURT ME.

When people don't skate but rap about it its just not going to translate well, and is often, like in this case, hilarious and kind of embarrassing to skateboarders. And well, even if they DO skate its still pretty damn embarrassing as everyones favorite, Jereme Rogers, has proven time and time again. No offense, c4mp fans. I'm sure the c4mp has some genius material that isn't wooden toy related.

Then I thought, "Man... Worful would never stir up shit on the blog or cause controversy. But he's a better person than me and I guess i'll just play into a new role as reigning blog curmudgeon since Guy hardly ever post anymore."

Then i thought, "damn, the c4mp reps Vans hard, maybe Donze should hook them up".

Then I thought, "by god, we have Joe Jackson's video part song for the Infinity video, this is SO SICK."

A WORLD CLASS WEEKEND

Last Friday when David was still in town I met up with him and a small crew at the KHUL. Lots of cool stuff went down, although I'm not sure if Alex did all the tricks on his hit list. Then we went go to the lighting company bank and I got at a shot of Zach ducking under the truck there and also Joe Jackson doing what he does best (see: ripping). Speaking of Joe, he showed me a TOP SECRET Troy line on his Flip camera that was very enjoyable. Saturday after David left I met up with everyone down at Keiner. Randy wallied over some broken glass to look tough, and then we got kicked out. I guess it was too tough. It certainly was too tough for his board, which after being broken became a target at the Afton High School banks for Randy's slingshot. Things progressed when we headed to Randy's for a BBQ and his lovely wife had set up more targets for him. Awww! Then Alex almost put his eye out. Also it was Alex's prom that night, but he blew it off because he's literally too cool for school. School sanctioned events that is. -Worful
