A WARNING TO ALL THE SOLDIERS

Dear STL skateboarders,
Unlike the fear-mongering Bush administration, we bring you this bit of frightening news out of genuine concern, not for personal gain. Our friend Jared (who has a 3 flip that would make BA jealous) passed along this alarming anecdote:

hey dude this is jared. DUDE THERE WAS A SHOOTING AT GHETTO PARK!!!!!

omg dude, this was one of the scariest experiences ever. dude there was a random guy walking down the street off of delmar where the tennis courts are. he was just walking down the street shooting like a small 22 or something. i dont know too much about guns but dude this guy was NUTS!!! i saw him shooting in the air, he shot at this van that rolled down the street and as and my friend chris ran to my car he started to yell "come here cuz come here." so we got in my car and were gone. so all i can say is KEEP YOUR HEADS UP!!!!! next time you guys go to the tennis courts because this guy was nuts.

To make matters worse, at that epic Blind School session that Worf blogged about the other day, the cops were swarming. A lone officer in a squad car asked us if we had seen a couple of suspicious individuals. We hadn't and told her no accordingly. She sped off without further ado. A few minutes later, two officers rolled up and barked out the same question. AFTER we cooperated with them, they informed us that there had been a shooting in the area. Obviously our safety was not a priority to them.

So take Jared's words to heart, players: "KEEP YOUR HEADS UP!!!!!!" Shit is really real out there. We love you all.

PAPER TRAIL

So the last monthly issue of SLAP came out this week, and although it made us shed a collective paper tear, we're definitely excited to see what they do next. We're also excited that Randy, Drew, and Guy were able to be in this issue! Randy's got a photo on the contents page that Guy shot and Drew's got a two page spread in the One in a Million article. Fantastic!

EPICLY SESSION'D

If Sunday's session was the last before the winter of our discontent, so be it. It started off at the blind school with a larger crew than usual. Hood was shocked. While Bobby and Drew exchanged mustache techniques, the rest of us skated the ledges and played a game of S.K.A.T.E. Then we checked out another spot where Randy did a pole jam and David approved. Another game of S.K.A.T.E. was played as the sun set and we called it a day. Or so we thought! But Bobby had different plans and wanted to show us one more spot. So he shut the session down with a pop shuvit. Jack almost lost his shit just filming it. Yeah Bob! What a great day. Photos by Worful.

Thanks so much to everyone who went out and voted yesterday! It was a very historic and exciting day that everyone can be proud of, regardless of who you voted for. Here's some more good stuff that got swept under the metaphorical rug. Of course, no day with Bobby would be complete with out a slam or two, or three, or four. But the question remains, will he go back and land whatever he was trying on that loading dock? Only time will tell, but for the sake of skateboarding we hope he does.
